All too often, we hear negative reports about The Villages Hospital, so I feel compelled to set the record straight!
Last week, I spent about 30 hours at The Villages Hospital and received the very best care anyone could possibly ask for!
I am an insulin dependent diabetic and I became dehydrated following a round of golf. Unfortunately, dehydration can have serious side effects for diabetics. Although I thought I had consumed plenty of fluids (water, G-2, etc.) while on the golf course, my insulin intake (via my insulin pump) did not prove to be sufficient to correct the situation. My blood sugar level ramped up rather significantly and, when I couldn’t get it down on my own, I went to the hospital at 5:00 a.m., after an uncomfortable, sleepless night.
The treatment I received during my entire stay in the hospital was exemplary! From the ER, where the medical team rapidly diagnosed my condition and established a treatment plan, to my overnight stay in the ICU, all of the doctors and nurses were professional, caring, efficient and pleasant!
I don’t believe I would have received any better care anywhere else! I feel fortunate to live in The Villages, where such a well staffed and professional hospital is so nearby!
