A driver was seriously injured after a crash on Interstate 75 in Hillsborough County on Thursday afternoon.
Eric Ortiz, 36, of Lakeland was driving a 2008 Honda Civic northbound on I-75 north of Fletcher Avenue when he lost control of his vehicle for unknown reasons, according to a Florida Highway Patrol accident report. Ortiz’s vehicle departed the roadway and entered the inside shoulder, the report stated. Once in the median, Ortiz’s vehicle crashed into several small trees, rotated and overturned onto its side.
Ortiz was seriously injured and transported to Tampa General Hospital. A passenger in the vehicle, 32-year-old Arlene Ortiz of Lakeland, was also seriously injured and transported to Tampa General Hospital.
