A waiter at a restaurant in The Villages may have pocketed as much as $1,000 from customers while he was working at the eatery.

Andrew Sullivan, 34, who lives at 3302 Woodridge Drive in The Villages, had been terminated from Demshar’s restaurant on July 4 when he showed up for work “in an intoxicated state,” according to an arrest report from the Lady Lake Police Department. A subsequent review by management revealed that through a “meal discount scheme,” Sullivan had been stealing most and sometimes all of the customers’ dining bills if they paid by cash. He allegedly used a manager’s code which prevented an imbalance being shown in the evening’s receipts.
Sullivan is on probation through 2029 for aggravated assault with a weapon.
Sullivan went to the Lady Lake Police Station on July 20 with his attorney J. Scott Herman.
He was arrested on a charge of scheme to defraud and booked at the Lake County Jail. He is also charged with violating his probation.
