The Sumter County Seniors vs. Crime office maintained its record of being the busiest office in the state after opening case number 7,000 on Wednesday.
It is the most cases opened by any Seniors vs. Crime office in Florida.
Case number 7,000 dealt was a landscaper issue, which Office Manager Bryan Lifsey says is “by a large majority” the types of cases handled by the office. Contractors and golf cart cases are frequently handled by the office, too.
Lifesy said the best way to protect yourself from these scams is to use something you have used your whole life: common sense.

He later said people who retire to The Villages should not retire their use of common sense, and if something seems too good to be true, they should beware.
“Nobody is going to look out after you better than you,” he said.
The clients for case number 7,000 were Susan and Sidney Waldman of the Village of Hadley. A landscaper who was doing work at their home damaged their irrigation system.
