At around 2 a.m., a Marion County sheriff’s deputy conducted a traffic stop on a 1999 white Chevy truck at the 2100 block of SE 58th Avenue for a faulty tag light, according to an MCSO arrest report. The deputy made contact with the driver, 23-year-old Kristopher Ty Lane of Silver Springs, and his 37-year-old passenger Candy Kay Bradley of Oxford. The deputy informed Lane why he conducted the traffic stop, but could smell an odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle. Lane stated that he doesn’t smoke marijuana but was around his friend that does smoke an hour before. Bradley stated that she didn’t smoke marijuana either. The deputy conducted a vehicle search that turned up a baggie containing a glass like substance located between the driver and passenger’s seats, underneath a purse. A marijuana cigarette was also discovered inside a Marlboro cigarette pack, which also contained another small baggie of a glass like substance. Inside the center console was a glass pipe that was warm to touch, the arrest report stated.

The glass like substances later tested positive for methamphetamine, while the marijuana cigarette tested positive for THC.

Lane informed the deputy that the cigarette pack and marijuana were his, and that he smoked it earlier, but the glass like substance was not his, according to the report. He could not explain why there was another bag containing the glass like substance between the driver and passenger seat. As for the pipe, Lane denied that it was his and stated that a friend riding with him earlier left it inside of the car. He could not provide the deputy with a name for this friend.

The deputy spoke with Bradley who informed that the purse was hers, but could not explain why the baggie was underneath her purse. Bradley further denied having knowledge of the pipe and marijuana being inside the vehicle. She stated she was with Lane all day, and could not explain why these substances were inside the vehicle. She did not mention someone else being inside the vehicle.

Both Lane and Bradley were placed under arrest and were transported to Marion County Jail. Bond was set at $4,000 and $3,000 respectively.
