A 74-year-old woman was arrested after her golf cart struck another vehicle after she had been drinking at City Fire at Lake Sumter Landing.

Gayle Knudson Joslyn had been at the wheel of a golf cart which collided with a Villager’s vehicle shortly after 8 p.m. Monday on Old Mill Run.

The Villager told a Sumter County sheriff’s deputy he had been traveling east on Old Mill Run when the passenger side of his vehicle was struck at the intersection by the golf cart which had been traveling northbound on the golf cart path.

Joslyn admitted to the deputy that she had been drinking at City Fire prior to the accident.

She struggled through field sobriety exercises and at one point told the deputy, “I don’t think I can do this. I’ve been drinking too much.”

She later provided a pair of breath samples that both registered .114 blood alcohol content.

She was arrested on a charge of driving under the influence and booked at the Sumter County Detention Center. She was released after posting $1,000 bond.
