To the Editor:
I went to my physician on Tuesday morning because I was bleeding rectally. My physician said she would call ahead and make arrangements for me to be seen in the Emergency Room at The Villages Regional Hospital. I arrived at 5 p.m. and I was never admitted to the hospital until 12 a.m. the next day. I was accommodated in the emergency department for the rest of the night. This experience was very frustrating, as I went to the restroom every two hours, and was expelling blood. When I was first seen by triage my blood count was 14. Taken after I was admitted it had dropped to 10.
Wednesday afternoon, I was moved to a semi private room and from that point on it was a pleasant experience until I was released Friday afternoon. The Villages has to do something to not only accommodate emergencies, but to speed up the process. I can see waiting an hour or so, but when you are in dire need of treatment, you should not have to wait seven hours.
The hospital is beautiful and if only my experience had been better, I would have no complaints.
