A plastic face mask was reportedly found in a student’s vehicle Wednesday at Belleview High School.
While working as a school resource officer at the high school, a Marion County sheriff’s deputy was advised by the dean of students that a K-9 deputy was utilizing his canine in the parking lot to do a drug sniff, according to an incident report. While conducting the drug sniff, the canine alerted on a 2004 white Toyota Tundra pickup truck, the report stated. The dean radioed to the front office to have them call the student to report to the parking lot.
Upon the student’s arrival, he unlocked the vehicle for the dean to search it. When the dean opened the door, he advised that a strong odor came from the vehicle. The dean was only able to find two lighters, bottle of eye drops and a small marijuana “roach,” according to the report. The dean then called the deputy to the vehicle, when the dean located a plastic face mask on the back passenger floorboard partially under the passenger’s front seat.
The deputy asked the student why he had the mask, in which the student advised he was going trick or treating. The student was suspended from the school and must attend a drug diversion program for the items found in his vehicle. The deputy made contact with the student’s mother to advise her of the situation.
