Lisa-Marie Mueller

A woman who admitted to having taken Xanax was arrested Tuesday afternoon after crashing her Ford utility vehicle on Interstate 75 in Sumter County.

Law enforcement arrived on the scene of the accident at 2:30 p.m. at Interstate 75 at East State Road 44 and found that 25-year-old Lisa-Marie Mueller of Inverness appeared to be impaired. A Sumter County sheriff’s deputy spoke with Mueller’s father, the vehicle’s registered owner, who said he had spoken to his daughter after the accident and he believed her to be “high,” according to an arrest report.

Mueller said she does not drink, but admitted to using crack cocaine and Xanax, for which she does not have a prescription. She said she had  “dozed off” before the crash and was very sleepy. She said  Xanax makes her “very tired” and she had taken one approximately two hours prior to the accident.

Mueller failed field sobriety exercises and refused to provide a urine sample.

She was arrested on a charge of driving under the influence and booked at the Sumter County Detention Center. She was released after posting $2,000 bond.
