A waiter who stole money at a Spanish Springs Town Square restaurant has been sentenced in connection with the case.
Andrew Sullivan, 35, had been terminated from Demshar’s restaurant on July 4 when he showed up for work “in an intoxicated state,” according to an arrest report from the Lady Lake Police Department. A subsequent review by management revealed that through a “meal discount scheme,” Sullivan had been stealing most and sometimes all of the customers’ dining bills if they paid by cash. He allegedly used a manager’s code which prevented an imbalance being shown in the evening’s receipts.
At the time of his arrest he was already a convicted felon and on probation through 2029 for aggravated assault with a weapon. He was living with his mother at 3302 Woodridge Drive in The Villages.
Sullivan pleaded no contest to a charge of fraud on Tuesday in Lake County Court.
He has been sentenced to three years probation and ordered to make restitution in the amount of $1,600 to his former employer. He was fined $262.50 and ordered to pay $518 in court and prosecution costs.
