Incumbent Sumter County Commissioner Doug Gilpin has begun raising money for a re-election bid.
The Republican commissioner from Lake Panasoffkee collected $5,100 in campaign contributions during December, according to documents on file with the Sumter County Supervisor of Elections Office.
The bulk of the donations were received from Gilpin’s employer, T&D.
On Dec. 22, the Gilpin campaign received $500 from T&D Pool & Spa Services; $500 from T&D Supplies Inc.; $500 from T&D Concrete Inc.; and $500 from T&D Distribution Inc.
That same day, the Gilpin campaign also posted a $500 contribution from Sumter Recycling and Solid Waste and a $500 contribution from Good Fellas Roll Off Waste Disposal.
He also received a $500 contribution from Daniel Dixon of Lake Panasoffkee, a $500 contribution from Becky Dixon of Lake Panasoffkee, a $500 contribution from Eleazar Flores of Oxford and a $500 contribution from Kelly Flores of Oxford.
Gilpin also donated $100 to his campaign coffers.
Last week, another T&D official, Brett Hage, announced he was considering a run for the Florida House seat left vacant by the death of Villager Don Hahnfeldt.
