31-year-old Spruce Creek South man arrested after K-9 alerts on his vehicle

Jason Richard Morrissette

A 31-year-old Spruce Creek South man was arrested early Friday morning after a K-9 alerted on his vehicle.

Jason Richard Morrissette had been at the wheel of a silver Hyundai Tiburon at 12:05 a.m. when a Sumter County sheriff’s deputy noticed the vehicle had a malfunctioning taillight.

During a traffic stop at U.S. 301 and Pepper Tree Lane in Wildwood, a K-9 alerted on Morrissette’s vehicle, indicating the presence of drugs.

A search of the vehicle turned up a small clear plastic baggie containing a white powdery substance determined to be methamphetamine.

He was taken into custody and booked at the Sumter County Detention on $3,000 bond.
