An employee at a Burger King restaurant in The Villages will have to answer in court after reportedly punching a customer.
The customer was attempting to place an order at about 4 p.m. May 3 in the drive-through lane at the restaurant on Bichara Boulevard, according to arrest report from the Lady Lake Police Department. The man told police that the employees were so loud that it was impossible for him to place his order at the microphone. He requested to speak with a manager, but then he and the manager began arguing through the microphone. After arguing for a few minutes, he pulled his vehicle to the front of the restaurant and parked. He got out and began arguing with Burger King employees, including 19-year-old Preston Gant IV of Umatilla.

Gant admitted to police he punched the customer in the face because Gant feared the customer was going to become physical with a female Burger King employee. Gant and the customer were separated and police were summoned.
The customer’s mother watched the incident from the vehicle and verified her son’s account.
Gant was issued a misdemeanor citation for battery and will have to answer to the charge in Lake County Court.
