A Village of Pinellas resident complained Monday to the Project Wide Advisory Committee about the loss of his water view.

John Stadtmueller of 2910 Canyon Ave. said he paid a $50,000 premium for his water view. He bought the home in 2014 for $350,000.

But now trees are blocking his water view.

John Stadtmueller is unhappy that his water view has been blocked by trees.

Stadtmueller said someone from Property Management came out to his house, but told him nothing could be done.

“Property Management does not remove trees to enhance  a view,” said Assistant District Manager Richard Baier. “We can’t spend public money for private benefit.”

PWAC member Jerry Vicenti said the committee has previously heard this type of complaint from residents.

“People pay extra for that view and then it’s gone. The residents think they have a guarantee,” he said.

PWAC member Don Wiley agreed.

“Unfortunately, this starts out with. ‘When I bought my house, my Realtor said.’ Some Realtors are like used car salesmen,” Wiley said.

Famously frustrated residents of Bridgeport at Lake Miona in 2015 forked over $25,000 after an investigation into trees being cut down over lack of a water view.
