Ocala police officers were investigating a possible attack with false imprisonment at a local hotel Friday night.
Officers responded to the Holiday Inn Hotel & Suites at 3600 SW38th Ave. just after 6 p.m. after receiving reports of a woman yelling from a balcony that she needed help and was being held against her will.
When officers arrived, they found a 25-year-old female who had been severely beaten and sustained head trauma, a police report states, adding that she was treated by EMS and taken to a local hospital.
With the assistance of hotel staff, officers were able to identify and apprehend five suspects – two males and three females. The suspects knew the victim and she was able to positively identify each of them in a photo lineup, the report says.
Ocala Police officials also said the attack was not random.
The investigation is ongoing and the suspects were being detained Friday night at the police department for additional questioning.
