Tod Watson Kemerer

A Marion County deputy arrested a Hernando man early Thursday morning after seeing the trailer he was pulling was missing a license plate.

When the deputy stopped the blue Chevy TrailBlazer pulling a wooden box trailer in the 2700 block of SW 42nd Street in Ocala, he asked driver Tod Watson Kemerer, 33, for his license, vehicle registration and trailer registration. But Kemerer told him he didn’t have a driver’s license and the trailer wasn’t registered, a sheriff’s office report states.

Kemerer handed the deputy a Michigan identification card and said he had a Florida license “a long time ago,” the report states.

A check of Kemerer’s driving record showed that his Florida license was suspended four times: March 22, 2010 for failure to pay a court financial obligation; March 4, 2009 for failure to pay a court obligation, Nov. 1, 2005 for 60 months for being a habitual traffic violator; and Sept. 8, 2005 for 30 days for 12 points within 12 months.

In addition, Kemerer’s criminal history shows that he was convicted five times in Citrus County of driving while his license was suspended or revoked: Sept. 8, 2008; Sept. 22, 2005 (twice); Aug. 3, 2005 and March 21, 2005.

Kemerer was taken into custody and transported to the Marion County Jail, where he was charged with driving with a suspended license (habitual offender). He was being held on $4,000 bond and is due to appear in a Marion County courtroom Aug. 21 at 9 a.m.
