A Marion County sheriff’s deputy was called to the Summerfield Wal-Mart on Monday afternoon after a man fraudulently tried to return items at the service counter.
When the deputy arrived, loss prevention officers at the store, located at 17961 S. U.S. Hwy. 27/441, said the man had already left. They said they had confronted him about the issue, but he had fled the area.
The loss prevention officers also provided the deputy with a list of items the man attempted to fraudulently return, which was estimated to be less than $300 worth of merchandise.
