Villager ticketed in head-on collision on Morse Boulevard Bridge

A Villager has been ticketed as the result of a head-on collision Thursday morning that temporarily shut down the Morse Boulevard Bridge.

Margaret Lee Winnegar, 73, of the Haciendas of Mission Hills, shortly before 11 a.m. had been at the wheel of a red 2018 Hyundai Elantra. She had been southbound when she crossed over into the northbound lane, according to an accident report from the Florida Highway Patrol.

Emergency personnel were on the scene of the crash on the Morse Boulevard Bridge.

Her vehicle struck a blue 2015 Kia Forte driven by 71-year-old Dennis Ronald Gilbert of the Village of Springdale.

Both drivers were transported by ambulance to Ocala Regional Medical Center. Both were initially said to be in critical condition.

Winnegar was cited for driving across the center line.
