A man apparently angered during a card game was arrested after allegedly shooting at a house in Wildwood.
A man told Sumter County sheriff’s deputies that he had been playing cards with 29-year-old Tabias Rydell James on Monday night at a home on County Road 228. James “became very upset” and left the premises, according to an arrest report. About five minutes later, a white Volkswagen Jetta drove past the home and a passenger began shooting a firearm. One of the rounds struck the roof, passed through the ceiling and entered the residence. Casings from .40-caliber Smith & Wesson ammunition were recovered by deputies.
Wildwood police received information that James was at his girlfriend’s home in the Eaglewood Mobile Home Park. A white Volkswagen Jetta was parked in the driveway. James attempted to flee the residence, but was detained by Wildwood police officers. A .40-caliber Glock Model 27 semi-automatic pistol was found in the mobile home and the gun contained Smith & Wesson ammunition. The gun had been reported stolen in Lake County.
James has multiple previous felony convictions.
He was taken into custody and booked at the Sumter County Detention Center on $27,000 bond.
