Arizona fugitive nabbed after deputy spots his car with no license plate

Shawn Penna

A fugitive from Arizona was arrested early Tuesday morning after a Marion County sheriff’s deputy stopped him on SE Hwy. 25 for driving without a visible license plate.

Shawn Penna, 27, of Belleview, told the deputy he had purchased the Red Nissan Frontier “a couple of months ago and just did not have the time to get it registered.” He was taken into custody and transported to the Marion County Jail and charged with failure to register a motor vehicle.

It also was determined that Penna was a fugitive from Arizona wanted on an out-of-state warrant for sexual exploitation of a minor. He was being held on no bond.
