Stephanie Brooke Crouse

A Lady Lake woman was arrested after a syringe was found in a restroom at a local internet cafe.

Sumter County sheriff’s deputies had been called at about 1:15 a.m. Monday to investigate a report of counterfeit money at Coconuts at 13474 U.S. Hwy. 441 in Lady Lake. During the investigation, 24-year-old Stephanie Brooke Crouse pushed her way past the men being interviewed, deputies and Coconuts personnel, indicating she needed to use the restroom, according to an arrest report.

A syringe containing heroin was found in the restroom soon after Crouse left.

She was arrested on charges of heroin possession and possession of drug equipment. Crouse was transported to the Sumter County Detention Center, but jail staff would not accept her due to recent narcotics use. She was then taken to Leesburg Regional Medical Center, where she was medically cleared. She was then taken back to the jail where she was booked on $2,500 bond.
