Man with link to notorious Villages drug house lands back behind bars after latest arrest

Mark Frederick Wagner

A man with a link to a once-notorious drug house in The Villages has landed back behind bars after his latest arrest.

Mark Frederick Wagner, 44, of Summerfield, was arrested Monday afternoon after he was spotted in a white pickup at the Circle K service station at U.S. 301 and County Road 472 in Wildwood.

A Wildwood police officer asked Wagner for his driver’s license and learned that his license had multiple suspensions. He also found that Wagner had two previous convictions for driving while license suspended. The pickup Wagner had been driving had not been properly registered, the arrest report indicated.

Wagner was taken into custody and booked at the Sumter County Detention Center on $1,500 bond.

Wagner had been present at a June 9, 2017 Community Development District 1 Board of Supervisors meeting when residents packed the board room to say they were fed up with trash and suspicious activity at a home at 1902 Antonia Place in the Village of Palo Alto.

Sumter County sheriff’s deputies executed a search warrant June 21, 2017 at 1902 Antonia Place.

Wagner was not there about two weeks later when the SWAT team from the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office raided the house and hauled away five people in handcuffs.

Wagner was also arrested in 2014 on drug and weapons charges after complaints about illicit activity on the Historic Side of The Villages.
