The Central Florida League Fall season began this past Tuesday with five games, three of which were decided by only a single run.
Synergy Wealth won it’s opener over Humana 8-7.
Synergy got three hits each by John Kushner and Dale Neff. Neff had a three run homer in the first inning and drove in two more runs in eighth to win the game. Manager Vernon Brooks and Dan Tharp had a pair of hits to help the offense. Humana had three hits by pitcher, Ed Krisha, and a pair each from Bob Roth, Jim Kitzler, and Art Anton.
Paul Davis roars back in the bottom of the seventh to score 6 runs and erase IHOP’s 5 run lead and win 17-16.
Paul Davis was lead by the four hits by Bob Buchanan and Mike Hyott. Mike Jeffries, John Barracato, Jim Boerman, and Ed Haith chipped in three hits each. Haith drove in five runs with a three run homer in the first and a pair of singles. George Pugh got the walk off single to drive in the winning run. IHOP got four hits from Gary Roth and three each by Rich Bergman and Chick Cicatelli. Bill Reed drove in four runs, Cal Driskill sent in five runs, and Josh Sheldon’s triple drove in two runs.
Fross and Fross scored a run in the top of the seventh and held on to beat Babiarz Law 8-7.
Pat Perkins led Fross with four hits and Jack Nagle stroked three hits. Adding a pair of hits were: Bob Holbert, Bill Nisbet, and Paul Robinson. Babiarz scored a run in the third as Tom Aldridge had a triple and scored on a sacrifice fly by Don Mulneix. Randy Murgittroyd scored in the fifth after hitting a double. Craig Dahlquist got credit for that run batted in. In the sixth Babiarz strung six hits together to score five runs with Rick Murgittroyd driving the last two witha double. Babiarz’s attempt to win the game in the bottom of the seventh failed as Pat Perkins snagged a fly in shallow right field and turned a fielder’s choice to end the game.
Palm Ridge Dental ran into Gators Brownwood which put the chomp to them 12-1.
Palm Ridge scored their only run in the sixth after the first two batters were out as the next two batters reached on errors and Jim Lambert got his second hit of the game and Conrad Strassle drove in the run with a single. Gators Dockside’s Chalie Clare waited until the sixth inning to get his first hit as he hit a three run homer. Ken Ruffo led Gators with four hits and pitcher, Fred Hughes, and Chris Iorio chipped in three hits each.
Arden Jewelers rolled to a win 19-8 over Team Koller.
Arden had 31 hits, with Jim White getting five hits and driving in three runs.
Adding three hits each were: Maury Fjestad, Mark Hildebrand, Bill Sass, Paul Isenberg, Tom Bortle, Peter Daub and Pat Kirk. Team Koller got a pair of hits from Howard Charney, Don Melcher, Jim Gipper, Rocky Spottswood, George Kennedy, Phil Palma, and subs John Ambrose and Gary Luck.
