Extreme heat is being blamed for a fish kill at a pond located at Brownwood.
Hundreds of dead fish were scattered around the pond, located to the west of the cattle sculptures near the entrance to Brownwood Paddock Square.
Vultures were gorging themselves Wednesday on the unexpected plenty of the numerous dead fish.
Clarke Aquatic Service, which provides aquatic services at the ponds in The Villages, indicated the fish kill was due to the 90+ degree heart. The warm water contributed to low dissolved oxygen content, which killed the fish.
