A 49-year-old woman was arrested after an altercation Wednesday on the lanai of a home in the Village of Tall Trees.
Sumter County sheriff’s deputies were called at 6:19 p.m. to a home on Five Forks Trail, where they found Kerri Ann Halchuk holding an electronic smoking device, according to an arrest report. The oil in the smoking device tested positive for THC. Halchuk admitted to getting into a fight with a man over doors being slammed. The man, who had been laying on a wicker couch on the lanai, said Halchuk jumped on him, attacked and scratched him. He pushed her off of him and she fell to the floor, suffering an injury to her forehead.
A female witness verified the man’s account of what had happened.
Halchuk was arrested on charges of battery, drug possession and possession of drug equipment. She was booked at the Sumter County Detention Center, where she initially was held without bond.
Halchuk had been placed on probation in 2011 in Sumter County Court following her arrest on charges of possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and driving on an expired license.
