George Charles Fluger

George C. Fluger, 90, of The Villages, FL, passed away, Wednesday, October 24, 2018. Mr. Fluger was born in Evanston, IL.

George was drafted in 1952 into the Army. He took Basic Training at Ft. Reed, VA. His MOS was Quartermaster and specialized in Supply. George shipped out from San Francisco to Korea.

George was a union sheet metal worker for his entire career. George was in the American Legion for 66 continuous years. Serving as 10th District Commander, 10th District Vice Commander, 10th District SGT.-At-Arms, 10th District Finance Officer and 10th District Color Guard in Illinois.

He moved to The Villages in 1992, becoming a member of American Legion Post 347 in Lady Lake, Florida. George enjoyed 27 years of playing golf, softball, camping with the R.V. Club, shuffleboard and exercising. George had the great privilege of flying with Mission 39, Villages Honor Flight on May 23, 2018 to Washington D.C.

Survivors include; daughter Janet Dobson of The Villages, son Jeffery (Gail) Fluger of McHenry, IL and son, Bruce Fluger of Lindenhurst, IL. He also leaves his sister Marge (George) Duval and brother Don (Elsie) Fluger. Adored grandfather of three grandchildren; Justin Fluger, Brooke Skodras (Joe) and Robert Fluger. He was the beloved husband and best friend of Barbara D. Fluger (deceased in 2013).

A visitation will be held on Monday, November 5th from 10 – 11 a.m. followed by a funeral service at 11 a.m. at Beyer’s Funeral Home, 134 North Highway 27/441, Lady Lake, Fl. Burial will follow with full American Legion military honors in Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell at 1 p.m. A memorial dinner will be served at the American Legion Post No. 347 in Lady Lake at 4:30 p.m.
