A Villages entertainer won’t be prosecuted after “skinny dipping” was found to be a source of jealousy in a violent incident earlier this year at his home.

Mark Seymour, 52, was arrested in the wee hours of Aug. 4 after he was thought to have been the aggressor in a domestic altercation with his live-in girlfriend at their Summerfield home. He was arrested on a charge of battery by Marion County sheriff’s deputies.

Mark Seymour has been a regular performer in The Villages.

The prosecutor’s office has announced the case is being dismissed.

The girlfriend, who originally claimed she had been pinned on a bed by Seymour, has said she did not want to see Seymour prosecuted.

A court document sheds new light on the details of that night.

Mark Seymour was arrested in August and booked at the Marion County Jail.

“It appears that the victim got jealous of the other woman that was at the house after the defendant and the other couple were skinny dipping in the pool,” State Attorney Brad King wrote in a document on file in Marion County Court.

The original arrest report noted that the girlfriend at one point had Seymour in a headlock. Seymour suffered a scratch on the side of the head, but wouldn’t tell deputies how he got it.

The prosecutor added that, “Under the facts and the circumstances of this case and pursuant to the victim’s wishes, this case will not be prosecuted.”
