A Fruitland Park man was arrested last week for trespassing at the Leesburg Wal-Mart.
Sherman Eugene James III, 26, was taken into custody Nov. 19 after a Fruitland Park Police officer spotted him riding a skateboard on S. Dixie Avenue toward the store, located at 2501 N Citrus Blvd. The officer knew James from previous encounters, one of which included arresting him on June 18 for violating a trespass order at Wal-Mart that was put in place by the Leesburg Police Department in July 2013, a Fruitland Park Police report says.
The officer pulled into the Wal-Mart parking lot and watched James ride his skateboard along the front of the grocery store side of the store. He then stopped James and confirmed that the trespass order against him was still active, the report says.
When the officer searched James, he found a blue glass smoking pipe in his left pocket that had a visible residue on it. The officer determined that the pipe was used to smoke methamphetamine. And James, who has been in the Lake County Jail 14 times since February 2011, “uttered that he did use it for meth and oils,” the report says.
James was transported to the jail early Tuesday morning and charged with trespass after warning and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was being held on $2,000 and is due in a Lake County courtroom on Dec. 11 at 8 a.m. to answer to the charges.
