Money is missing from vending machines at a recreation center and swimming pool in The Villages.
A representative of Kindred Spirits, which services the vending machines, contacted Lady Lake police on Wednesday to report that money was missing from vending machines at Paradise Recreation Center and the Hilltop Pool, both located on the Historic Side of The Villages.
The machines are regularly serviced on Wednesday and both machines had no money, according to an incident report. The representative estimated the loss to be $50 per machine. There was no damage to the machines, which inspired the theory that the thief may be armed with a key.
Earlier this year, there had been a report that someone may have been tampering with the vending machine at Paradise Recreation Center.
