Book and Author Expo featuring 90-plus writers coming to Eisenhower Rec Center

There’s good news for book lovers and holiday shoppers – the Writers League of The Villages will be holding its second-of-the-year Central Florida Book and Author Expo on Saturday, Dec. 8.

The Expo will be held at the Eisenhower Recreation Center from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. It will be the largest Expo so far, with more than 90 authors participating. And in addition to autographing their books, many authors will offer Expo-only specials and discounts.

Soni Markwood, right, purchased a book for her grandson from author Valerie Pfundstein at the January 2017 Central Florida Book and Author Expo.

The many authors from The Villages are being joined this year by writers from throughout Florida and several other states. In addition, three publishers also will be represented.

The Expo promises to offer a real diversity of writers, with more than 15 genres represented. So whether you are looking for mystery, history or romance, everyone attending should find something. And that includes books for kids, too, as many children’s authors are participating.

Villager Gary Toppi found he had a Maine connection with author Steve Burt, right, while purchasing joke books for his nephew at the January 2017 Central Florida Book and Author Expo.

Food and drinks also will be available, as TooJay’s Gourmet Deli will set up in one of the recreation center’s rooms to sell sandwiches, sodas and other goodies.

This Expo is open to the public. For additional information, contact 2018 Expo Committee Chairman Jim Meyer at [email protected]
