GPS satellite set for launch at Cape Canaveral

A SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket will launch GPS III SV01 on Tuesday for the United States Air Force.

The launch is set for 9:11 a.m.

GPS III SV01 will join 31 operational global positioning systems satellites already in orbit, delivering positioning, navigation and timing services for the United States and other operations. This satellite is nicknamed “Vespucci” after Amerigo Vespucci, the Italian explorer the Americas were named after.
