A Villager has spoken out against the proposed location of a 7-Eleven at the intersection of Rolling Acres Road and County Road 466.
Judy Glasel, of the Chula Vista Villas, took to the podium at Monday night’s Lady Lake Commission meeting citing her 29 years in business, calling on convenience stores. She offered a theory as to why 7-Eleven is eager to stake a claim at the intersection.
“They want the business on County Road 466 before it gets to Wawa,” she said.
Wawa is already in the process of building a gas station and convenience store at the intersection of U.S. Hwy. 27/441 and County Road 466.
“That’s how it works, when a big one goes in, another one comes in,” she told the commission. Glasel said she is “thoroughly against” putting a 7-Eleven on that corner.
“We have so many accidents on that road,” she said.
Commissioner Paul Hannan earlier this month voiced his opposition to the 7-Eleven proposal.
“I think we have enough gas stations,” he said.
Representatives of 7-Eleven are scheduled to present their plan next month to the commission.
