Snowbird in golf cart requires police escort after getting lost on County Road 466

A confused snowbird in a golf cart required a police escort after getting lost on County Road 466.

The Ohio woman had set out for the Tierra Del Sol Recreation Center, but at about 11:30 a.m. Thursday got confused and began heading east on County Road 466.

A snowbird in a golf cart traveled from The Villages down County Road 466 to U.S. Hwy. 27/441.

She drove the white Yamaha golf cart all the way down to the intersection of County Road 466 and Rolling Acres Road, where she caught a green light and continued eastward. When she reached the intersection of County Road 466 and U.S. Hwy. 27/441 she began to realize something was amiss.

She made a right turn from U.S. Hwy. 27/441 into the Lady Lake Log Cabin.

The woman, who had a yoga mat on the seat next to her, indicated she and her husband are in The Villages on a three-month rental. She also indicated her iPhone, upon which she had relied for directions, was low on juice.

Lady Lake police provided the woman an escort to get back to the golf cart path in The Villages.

Lady Lake police were summoned to the scene and two patrol cars escorted her back down County Road 466 to the Rolling Acres Sports Complex, from which she was able to access the multi-modal path back into The Villages.
