Another attempt at obstructing Donald Trump

Dennis Petrucelli

On Jan. 6, a letter appeared on these pages which was devoid of debate but heavy on character assassination.  In fact, the writer perhaps unknowingly, regurgitates the same tired tropes as the Democratic House Leaders.  Haven’t we had enough and isn’t its time that this issue concerning the border wall be acknowledged as to what it really is, just another attempt at obstructing Donald Trump. The left continues this Road Runner vs. Wile E. Coyote routine because much to their surprise and chagrin Donald Trump campaigned as a disrupter to the status quo. And he actually has and continues to deliver on his campaign promises. Schumer and Company recognize that the more promises Donald Trump keeps the more certain Trumps chances for re-election in 2020.

Ironically, and according to Representative John Yarmuth (D-KY) Budget Committee chairman, House Democrats just about a year ago voted for a $25 billion wall in exchange for an agreement on DACA. In 2013 all 54 House Democrats voted passage for a $46 billion wall which included 700 miles of additional border fencing. So, we find that Democrat national elected leaders are ignoring a serious homeland security issues for no valid reason other than just because they hate Donald Trump. A serious person would ask why?  Why should we continue to place our trust and confidence with people whose sole mission amounts to a vendetta?

As to the partial shutdown I am in some respect glad to see it. Now is as good a time as any to make an assessment as to what is essential and to reduce the redundancy and waste that permeates in government. For example, the so-called back offices the left continue to reference are so numerous they are literally unaccountable.  And each of these offices uses private suppliers, the owners of which often make campaign contributions, retain lobbyist and otherwise support big government (Competitive Enterprise Institute). If that is not enough to cause concern take a gander at the so-called jobs and infrastructure $1 trillion proposal that the Senate Democrats floated back in March.

Finally, if you believe Donald Trump is a danger to this nation you may want to pause and take a look at the 2019 Democrat freshman class of House Representatives and the initiatives they are already undertaking.  I’ll end with a little levity. If these  freshman Representatives prevail Central America better build a wall because you are going to see caravans of Americas headed their way.
