Villager’s $20,000 Rolex stolen while she was trying out massage chairs

Rebecca Miller

A Villager’s $20,000 Rolex watch was stolen while she was trying out massage chairs at Sam’s Club in Lady Lake.

The woman went to the store Monday afternoon and looked at some massage chairs being shown to her by a company representative, 47-year-old Rebecca Miller of Orlando, according to an arrest report from the Lady Lake Police Department. The Villager tried out two of the three massage chairs that were set up, taking off her watch and placing it on her lap. She got up and left the vendor area, leaving her watch behind. When the Villager realized her watch was not on her wrist, she returned to the massage area, Miller said she did not find the watch. When police arrived, Miller refused to let them search the area.

Video surveillance obtained from Sam’s Club showed the Villager trying out the chairs. It also showed Miller picking up the watch, which was left behind. She then used a cleaning product on the chairs.

She was arrested Tuesday on felony charge of grand theft.

She was booked at the Lake County Jail on $20,000 bond.
