Some folks would be thrilled to swim if only they could access the pool

To the Editor:

Some years ago, chair lifts were not available for the likes of my niece and her friends. They all loved to use the pool but we’re unable to access them because no ramps or lifts existed. Bad enough they had to get pulled out of chairs and awkwardly put in and out of public pools.
Utilization TODAY at some pools may be limited and we cannot predict our futures. I bet some folks would be thrilled to swim if only they could access the pool.
Exclusion doesn’t suit The Villages. To exclude disabled, wheelchair persons is NOT the picture I want to see and will not defend.
Do Unto Others.
