Love fills the air as Villages clubs team up to share meaningful stories

Phil Walker, of the Writers League of The Villages, served as master of ceremonies for the ‘Love Stories’ evening.

Valentine’s Day love was in the air on Thursday evening at Odell Recreation Center as the Writers League of the Villages (WLOV) teamed up with The Villages Old-Time Radio Drama Club (OTRDC).

The event included a two-hour presentation of selected “love” short stories, poems and songs performed in front of a sold-out audience.

WLOV writers included Jenny Ferns, John W Prince, Beverly Ann Meyers, Steve Burt, Jack Ciotti, Mike Doyle, Millard Johnson and Mark Newhouse. And songs by Mike Doyle, Billy Wells and Norman Kerner were performed.

Among the ‘Love Stories’ writers on Thursday evening were Writers League members Millard Johnson, Mike Doyle, Mark Newhouse, John W Prince and Steve Burt. Jenny Ferns, Jack Ciotti, and Beverly Ann Meyers also were featured writers, along with song writers Billy Wells and Norman Kerner.

The event was produced by Millard Johnson of WLOV, directed by Ed Williams of OTRDC and sound was handled by Steve Shulman of the Audio-Video Techniques Club. Phil Walker served as master of ceremonies.

Readers from WLOV included Ferns, Paula Howard, and Dick Walsh. Sandra Lee Clark, Dan Pona, Toni Oteri and Joan Teets were readers from OTRDC. Musicians and singers included Sherrie Aly, Eliane Woodruff and Ray Lavgine.
