Francis A. Sawicki

Francis A. Sawicki, 90, passed away on Monday, February 18, 2019 after a short illness.  He was born on September 10, 1928 in Yonkers, NY to Frank and Maryanna Sawicki.  After living in Garden City, NY for many years, he retired from the Uniondale NY School District where he served as the Assistant Superintendent of Schools, concentrating his efforts in the field of Special Education.  Frank was a proud American who served his country in the Army during the Korean War.

Frank and his beloved wife, Katherine, “Kay,” were devoted to each other and spent their years together working in the Uniondale School District, completing many home projects together, traveling the worked and sharing their love of dogs.  In his free time, Frank enjoyed snow skiing, waterskiing and aviation with family and friends.  He was a devout Catholic and communicant of St. Timothy’s Roman Catholic Church in The Villages.

Frank was predeceased in 2012 by the love of his life, Katherine Rivas Sawicki.  He is survived by his sister-in-law, Anna Rivas Benson (Dale), brother-in-law Anthony Rivas (Janie), and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews and many great friends.  A Visitation will be held on Friday, February 22, 2019 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the Hiers-Baxley Funeral Services, 1511 Buenos Aires Blvd., The Villages, FL 32159.  A Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, February 23, 2019 at 8:30 AM at St. Timothy’s Catholic Church, The Villages. Burial will be in the Highland Memorial Park, Ocala, FL.  In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in Frank’s memory to the charity of your choice.
