Anthony Piraino

Anthony B. Piraino (Tony), 94, of The Villages, FL passed away on Friday, February 22, 2019 after a long illness. Tony was born in Chicago, Ill on February 16, 1925 to Salvatore and Josephine Piraino. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the Army Air Corps as a tailgunner on a B-17.

The accordion was Tony’s instrument of choice. He played many Chicago clubs with several bands. After college Tony began a career in Real Estate alongside his brother. Tony’s baseball career began early on the sandlots and moved up to the farm team system. However, he was not called up due to the beginning of World War II.

Tony was very involved in The Villages Bowling League, several golfing groups and the American Legion. He participated in the Senior Games winning many bowling trophies. Tony served as an Usher at St. Mark the Evangelist Catholic Church for many years.

Tony was predeceased by his loving wife Linda on June 5, 2006. He is survived by his son Samuel and daughter Barbara Ann.

A visitation will be held at Beyers Funeral Home, Lady Lake on Tuesday, February 26, 2019 from 2:00 to 4:00 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Mark the Evangelist Catholic Church on Wednesday, February 27, 2019 at 10:00 am followed by interment at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, FL.
