New restaurant will be opening doors at Lake Sumter Landing

A couple who in 2014 launched a successful restaurant at Brownwood in The Villages is ready to try their luck at Lake Sumter Landing.

Bryce and Stacey Kelly are ready to open a Flying Biscuit Cafe in the former home of the Tea Plantation florist at 1101 Canal St. The opening is expected to take place in May.

The former home of the Tea Plantation will be the site of a new restaurant in The Villages.
Owners Bryce and Stacey Kelly donated $120 in tips to the Wildwood Soup Kitchen on opening day in 2014 at McAlister’s Deli.

The Flying Biscuit Cafe brand has been a dominant, regional staple throughout the Southeast.  Since opening its first location in the Atlanta suburb of Candler Park in 1993, a Flying Biscuit location has yet to close its doors. The nearest location of a Flying Biscuit Cafe is in Gainesville.

The Flying Biscuit plans to have 21 restaurants open by the end of 2019.

In the Kellys, Flying Biscuit Cafe will have experienced Villages restauranteurs.

They have enjoyed success at McAlister’s Deli since cutting the ribbon at the Brownwood eatery.

“We came here because we love The Villages community,” Stacey Kelly told Villages-News.com at the ribbon-cutting ceremony in December 2014.
