A Summerfield man who was allegedly carrying a concealed weapon was arrested last week after exhibiting bizarre behavior and acting paranoid around a Marion County sheriff’s deputy.

Charles Anthony Lamar was arrested last week at the Circle K at 14870 S U.S. Hwy. 27/441 after a Marion County sheriff’s deputy discovered that he was carrying brass knuckles in his pants pocket.

The deputy made contact with 40-year-old Charles Anthony Lamar shortly after midnight last Tuesday at the Circle K gas station at 14870 S U.S. Hwy. 27/441. Lamar allegedly admitted to the deputy that he had used illegal drugs earlier in the day and then told him that he had brass knuckles in his pants pocket, a sheriff’s office report states.

The deputy asked Lamar to remove the weapon from his pocket. Lamar then pulled out a set of metallic brass knuckles and placed them on the hood of the deputy’s patrol vehicle as instructed, the report says.

After being read his rights, Lamar said he had been carrying the brass knuckles concealed in his pocket and he didn’t have a permit. He was then taken into custody and transported to the Marion County Jail, where he was charged with carrying a concealed weapon without a permit.

Lamar, a vinyl siding installer who lives at 14561 SE 86th Ct. near the Lucky Panda Internet Café, was released last Wednesday after paying $500 bond. No court date has yet been set for him to answer to the charge.
