John Duncan

John Duncan died peacefully at his home on March 30, 2019 with his beloved wife Jean at his side. John was born in Flint Michigan the son of Basil and Ruth Burns Duncan.  After graduating from Flint Technical School in 1954 he went to work at General Motors.  He was involved in numerous sporting activities in Flushing with his sons Mark and Jeff.  May 1, 1980 he married Jean Mikek, the love of his life.

Throughout their years together they attended numerous sporting activities.  John was an avid Detroit TigerS fan.  They enjoyed living on Lake Fenton and having fun on their boats with all their friends and family.  They always treasured the time they spent in Traverse City at their condo in Port Traverse where they had many friends and good times.

After retiring from General Motors as Purchasing Agent on 6/1/1992, John went to work at National Car Parts for 10 years.  When Jean retired they moved to Traverse City and lived on Old Mission Peninsula on the East Bay before moving full time to The Villages in 2008.  John truly loved living in The Villages with all his activities and numerous friends.  He was one of the original members of the Hummers and Strummers Ukulele Club.  He was the captain of two shuffleboard teams, the Hibiscus Hunters and Coconut Cove High Rollers.  The rest of his days were spent playing billiards at the the Coconut Cove Rec Center.

John leaves his loving wife of 39 years Jean, sister & brother in laws, Ann & Greg Pearson, Mary & Jim Huget, 2 sons Mark & Jeff and numerous friends.  Donations may be made to Cornerstone Hospice.
