Battling neighbors in next-door courtyard villas returned for another round Wednesday morning before the Architectural Review Committee.
Mark Corner and Mary Jo Overland, who reside at 2339 Ridgeway Court in the Rosedale Villas in the Village of Duval, were seeking permission to “remove existing concrete from sidewalk to be away from neighbor’s house by 24 inches to comply with Community Standards.”
The appearance before the ARC marked another tense exchange between Corner and his next-door neighbor, Linda Lane. The pair has duked it out in previous meetings over improvements Corner and Overland made to their home without first seeking approval from the ARC.
Lane had earlier complained about a concrete slab the couple put down.
“Originally, it was rocks and plants and there was no drainage problem. He put in the concrete and now there is a drainage problem,” Lane on Wednesday told the ARC.
Both sides made allegations outside the scope of what the ARC was to consider that day.
“All we have today is a request to remove 24 inches of concrete. If a neighbor believes there is a problem with deed compliance, the neighbor can contact Community Standards,” said ARC member Tom Swiers.
The ARC unanimously approved the application to remove the concrete, but Lane repeatedly claimed her neighbor was still in violation of deed compliance.
“It may not solve all your problems, but you can go to Community Standards,” ARC member Chris Faulhaber told Lane.
