A 90-year-old Villager is free on $2,000 bond after turning herself in to police.
A warrant had been issued last week for the arrest of Jeanne Carolyn Hicks, of the Village of Del Mar, after she skipped a date in Lake County Court.
She turned herself in Sunday afternoon at the Lady Lake Police Department after a friend told her she was a wanted woman.
Hicks is due May 1 for arraignment in front of Judge Cary Rada in Lake County Court.
Hicks ran afoul of the law on March 23 after the front bumper of her red 2015 Chevrolet Malibu “tapped” the rear bumper of the vehicle in front of her in the drive-up lane at Taco Bell on Bichara Boulevard in The Villages, according to an incident report from the Lady Lake Police Department.
A check revealed Hicks’ license had been suspended in October for failure to respond to a citation that had been issued July 1. A seize tag order had also been issued. Kling Towing took Hicks’ vehicle to the company’s impound yard.
