A Sumter County man was killed Monday when his Harley-Davidson motorcycle hit a tree.
John Joseph Heis Sr., 73, of Bushnell at noon had been traveling eastbound on State Road 50 near State Road 471 on his 2002 Harley-Davidson motorcycle when he lost control and it struck a tree, according to an accident report from the Florida Highway Patrol.
He was pronounced dead at the scene. The report noted he was wearing a helmet.
