Village of Fenney resident ticketed in motorcycle crash at Colony Plaza

The release of an accident report from the Florida Highway Patrol is shedding light on a crash last week at Colony Plaza that sent a motorcyclist to Ocala Regional Medical Center.

Brandon Michael Johnson, 22, of the Village of Rio Grande, had been riding a black 2016 Harley-Davidson motorcycle at 2:30 p.m. April 29 westbound on County Road 466A at Sembler Way, according to the report.

A 22-year-old Villager was transported April 29 from the scene of this motorcycle crash on County Road 466A at Colony Plaza.

Peter David Schwarz, 71, of the Village of Fenney, was driving a red 2018 Toyota Camry eastbound on County Road 466A when he made a left turn into Colony Plaza on a yellow light. His car traveled directly into the path of Johnson’s motorcycle. Johnson attempted to apply the brakes but could not avoid the collision.   

Schwarz was ticketed on a charge of failure to yield.

Emergency personnel were at the scene of the crash on County Road 466A at Colony Plaza.

Johnson was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.
