
Myla Dean Thompson, 69, passed away on May 30, 2019. She was born December 28, 1949 in Chicago, IL (maiden name: Life). Myla moved to Florida about 25 years ago from Bloomington, IN.
She is predeceased by her father, Orville Life, mother, Faye Life (Fields maiden name), Nancy Lawson – Myla’s sister-in-law of FL, Kenny Lawson – Myla’s brother-in-law of FL, and Kris Lawson (nephew).
She is survived by her husband, Lawrence Eugene Thompson of Fruitland Park, FL, her sister, Doreen Ball of Michigan City, IN, nephew, Daren Ball (Melissa) of Cumming, GA, step-son, Jim Thompson (Sherry) of Shelbyville, IN, step-grandchildren; Skylynn Thompson of Shelbyville, IN, and Dominique Reed, nephews; Ken Lawson, Kevin Lawson, Kurtis Lawson, and niece, Katrina Rice.
Myla’s activities included being a parrot owner (owned 3 previously), knitting, quilting and other crafts. She founded the knitting group, Knitting with Myla. She was an Adult literacy tutor for Fruitland Park, Lady Lake and Leesburg library systems for several years, she taught English as a second language. She taught US Citizenship lessons – in conjunction with the literacy program, and was a Computer group member of the Lake-Sumter Computer Society.
Donations can be made to the Fruitland Park, Lady Lake or Leesburg Library System or The American Bird Conservancy.
Myla will be inurned at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell at a later date. Arrangements entrusted to Beyers Funeral Home and Crematory, Lady Lake, FL.
