A Summerfield man found himself behind bars Sunday afternoon after a violent battle with a woman that was witnessed by her juvenile daughter.
Marion County sheriff’s deputies were called to a residence on SE 178th Street and when they arrived, the woman told them she and Alexander Mojica Martinez had a verbal altercation about who was going to use their vehicle. She said she told him she was going to use it and he then became upset, grabbed her by the hair and drug her outside, a sheriff’s office report states.
The woman claimed that Mojica Martinez struck her in the head and face area multiple times with a closed fist as he was attempting to get the vehicle’s keys away from her. The woman said she kept him from getting in the vehicle so he left the residence, the report says.
The woman’s juvenile daughter said she saw the incident occur and confirmed her mother’s story about being drug outside by her hair and hit by Mojica Martinez, the report says.
The deputy noted that the woman had dirt on her arms and back area, as well as a cut on her lip that appeared to be bleeding, which was consistent with her story of being battered.
Deputies then made contact with Mojica Martinez, who claimed that he didn’t put his hands on the woman. He was arrested and transported to the Marion County Jail, where he was charged with domestic battery and held on no bond.
