A Summerfield man who was told to “keep walking and don’t come back” is behind bars after a woman reported a rampage inside her vehicle.
A Marion County sheriff’s deputy spoke with the woman Saturday in the area of 14060 S Hwy. 475 after she called for help. She said that 55-year-old Doran Roger Roberts had broken the passenger-side dashboard trim and pulled out a passenger-side air vent while having a tirade inside her vehicle. She estimated the damage at $600, a sheriff’s office report states.
The woman said she had been doing cleaning for her mother-in-law when Roberts “demanded” that she take him to the store for beer. She agreed and once they arrived, she told him to get out of the vehicle and to not come back. She said Doran then became angry and started punching the inside of her vehicle, the report says.
The deputy made contact early Sunday morning with Roberts at a residence in the 1600 block of SE 150th Street. He claimed he was just “playing” in the woman’s vehicle. And the deputy noted that Doran smelled like alcohol and had beer on him, the report says.
Roberts was taken into custody and transported to the Marion County Jail, where he was charged with damaging property/criminal mischief. He is being held on no bond and his next court date hasn’t yet been set.
