Vernon Smith

Vernon Dean Smith, 79, of Wildwood, passed away Sunday, June 9, 2019.

Mr. Smith was born August 3, 1939 in Wildwood to John Wilfred Smith, Jr and Rosa Belle Shurley Smith. He was a lifelong resident and retired in 2005 from the Sumter County School Board as Director of Transportation. Dean was a member of the Open Circle MCC in Belleview and loved woodworking, gardening and Farmall Tractors.

Survivors include his children, Donia Smith (Pat Stewart) and David Smith (Sue); sister, Janice Smith (Dale); brother, Wayne Smith (Betty); grandchildren, Glesni and Teleri; several nieces and nephews. Dean was preceded in death by his loving wife, Vivian and sister, Frances Sanford.

Visitation will be 6:00 – 8:00 PM, Thursday, June 13, 2019 in the funeral home. Funeral services will be 10:00 AM, Friday, June 14, 2019 in the Banks/Page-Theus Chapel with interment in Pine Level Cemetery, Oxford.
